Theodore (Right) retired in 1942.
He spent 56 years as a Rye merchant
and over a decade serving as Mayor.
His devotion to Rye's community is still honored today as his friends and neighbors named Theodore Fremd Avenue in remembrance of him.
When Theodore Fremd passed away in 1947, he left Fremd’s Market to his trusted longtime employee Robert Crisfield.

John and Jackie Johnston bought the business in the 1970's and committed to continuing the Crisfield's legacy, and to which they did for 42 years.

and countless happy customers,
the Johnstons felt it was time to
retire and sell the business.
William Ryan purchased Crisfield's
from the Johnstons. William is the current owner of Crisfield's, and is in the process of giving Crisfield's a modern feel.
